Oral Surgery & Minor Dental Procedures

Safe & Comfortable Dental Procedures

Oral surgery encompasses a range of specialized minor surgical treatments aimed at resolving complex tooth conditions, alleviating pain, and preserving overall oral function.

Whether removing an impacted tooth, preparing your jaw for restorative prosthetics, or performing localized soft tissue surgery, our approach prioritizes patient safety, comfort, and smooth recovery.

Every procedure is planned using thorough diagnostic evaluations, gentle techniques, and modern anesthesia to ensure a stress-free experience.

Tooth Extraction

While saving natural teeth is always our priority, simple tooth removal is sometimes necessary when a tooth is extensively damaged by severe decay, advanced infection, or irreparable trauma.

Simple extractions are carried out with precision and local anesthesia to ensure minimal pressure, quick healing, and zero pain during the procedure.

Reasons a tooth extraction may be needed:
  • Severe dental decay beyond restorative treatment
  • Advanced gum disease resulting in excessive tooth mobility
  • Irreparable tooth fracture or root fracture
  • Orthodontic space creation for proper tooth alignment

Wisdom Tooth Evaluation & Extraction

Wisdom teeth (third molars) frequently lack adequate space to emerge correctly, often becoming impacted, angulated, or trapped beneath the gumline and bone.

Comprehensive clinical and radiographic evaluation determines whether wisdom teeth need proactive removal to avoid crowding, recurring infections, cysts, or damage to adjacent teeth.

Wisdom tooth evaluation addresses:
  • Pain, swelling, or localized gum infection (pericoronitis)
  • Risk of decay in neighboring second molars
  • Partial or complete bone and soft-tissue impaction
  • Preventative removal to protect alignment and jaw integrity

Surgical Tooth Extraction

Surgical extraction is indicated for teeth that are broken off at the gumline, have complex root shapes, or are deeply anchored within the bone.

This procedure involves a precise surgical incision and gentle tooth sectioning to safely remove the root fragments while minimizing trauma to the surrounding alveolar bone.

Indications for surgical extraction:
  • Teeth broken flush with or below the gum margin
  • Severely curved, divergent, or brittle root structures
  • Impacted or unerupted teeth
  • Teeth fused to the jawbone (ankylosis)

Pre-Prosthetic Dental Procedures

Before receiving dental prostheses such as dentures, bridges, or dental implants, the jawbone and soft tissues must have an even, healthy foundation.

Pre-prosthetic surgery modifies bone contours and eliminates irregular tissue outgrowths so that your future prostheses fit comfortably, securely, and without painful friction.

Common pre-prosthetic treatments:
  • Alveoloplasty (smoothing and recontouring uneven jaw ridges)
  • Removal of bony growths (tori or exostoses)
  • Excision of excess fibrous or hyperplastic soft tissue
  • Frenectomy to relieve tension on denture borders

Minor Oral Surgical Procedures

Minor oral surgery addresses specific soft-tissue and localized bony anomalies in an outpatient clinical setting with rapid recovery times.

These procedures help relieve chronic soft-tissue discomfort, improve muscle attachment, biopsy oral lesions, and maintain long-term oral stability.

Minor procedures include:
  • Labial and lingual frenectomies (correcting tongue-tie or lip gaps)
  • Incision and drainage of localized infections
  • Removal of small oral mucoceles and soft-tissue lesions
  • Operculectomy (removal of inflamed gum flaps over erupting teeth)

No. Before beginning any procedure, we administer effective local anesthesia to completely numb the treatment area. You might feel slight pressure or vibration, but you will not feel sharp pain.

Not necessarily. Wisdom teeth that emerge fully, are properly positioned, cleanable, and disease-free do not need removal. Extraction is only recommended if they are impacted, causing pain, decayed, or threatening neighboring teeth.

A simple extraction is performed on a visible tooth that can be loosened and removed with specialized instruments. A surgical extraction involves a minor gum incision and bone contouring or sectioning when the tooth is broken under the gumline or impacted.

Avoid drinking through straws, vigorous spitting, rinsing forcefully, and smoking for at least 48 to 72 hours. These actions can dislodge the crucial blood clot needed for normal bone and tissue healing.

Pre-prosthetic surgery reshapes uneven bone ridges and removes excess tissue before dentures or bridges are fitted. This ensures that your restoration fits stably, comfortably, and without causing sore spots.

Stick to soft, cool or lukewarm foods such as yogurt, smoothies (eaten with a spoon), mashed potatoes, soups, and oatmeal for the first 2 to 3 days. Avoid hard, crunchy, spicy, or hot foods until healing is underway.

Initial soft tissue healing typically takes 7 to 10 days, with discomfort subsiding significantly within 48 to 72 hours. Complete bone remodeling inside the socket continues over several months.

A frenectomy is a minor procedure to release a tight band of tissue (frenum) under the tongue (tongue-tie) or upper lip. It is recommended when the band causes speech difficulty, gum recession, or a gap between front teeth.

Not for simple extractions, but sutures are commonly used in surgical extractions and minor tissue surgeries to stabilize the gum flaps. In most cases, dissolvable sutures are placed, which disappear on their own within 1 to 2 weeks.

You should contact us immediately if you experience severe pain unresponsive to prescribed painkillers, persistent heavy bleeding that does not stop with gauze pressure, fever, or swelling that continues to worsen after 3 days.
